I've been driving stick since late July. In august I drove an auto briefly, but since then it's been all manual. I just drove my mom'a A5 and had a sad...
The A5 is a fantastic car, seriously. It looks fucking gorgeous, it has a very nice interior, and it's not slow. Not especially fast, but it accelerates well enough and handles almost surprisingly well for a car I would consider to be more tourer than sports car. My mom speced hers with an auto, and I can't blame her for the added comfort and convinience but man does it suck the life out of the car.
It's a fine transmission, smooth and quick, but it makes the car feel like it's missing something if you try to drive in any sort of spirited manner. I still enjoy driving it, but would enjoy it much more with an extra pedal.
Viva la Manuel!

Isn't it a dual-clutch box? I thought it wouldn't be that bad...

I just bought my first two-pedal car in 20 years of driving, last week.
It's very confusing.

Since my first car I have owned automatics. I alwayd longed for a third pedal so when I got the Dart I naturally opted for my first stick. Automatics just feek so incredibly boring now.

You step on the imaginary clutch peddle don't you?

Do you step on the deadpedal and try to jiggle the shifter?

I don't think so?
Regardless, as I said above the transmission is fine. Really good in fact, but it's not fun. No paddles, you can shift with the stick in sport mode but it's backwards, and not much fun.

Yes I do. I also forget to pull the release button, and put it in park.

Exactly. My sonic is my first manual and I don't think I'll ever go back for a dd

Yup I can't imagine going back unless my left knee decides to explode or something.

I had the same thing a month ago, after not having driven an automatic since 2009. It felt awkward and uncomfortable, even though it was a modern 8-speed unit in a manatee-like new Touareg. I was glad I was back in my own car after the trip in the automatic.
